Board Committees
Become more active in the Beth El Community by joining one of our many Committees:
Membership Committee
Come be a part of the committee that plans exciting events like ABC Shabbat, Shabbat on the Lake and Tiki Bar Shabbat! If you love talking to new people about Beth El, touting the shul’s wonderful programs or thinking of ways to improve synagogue life for current members, this committee is for you! The Membership Committee meets once a month on Sunday mornings. We plan programs, strategies and events aimed at recruitment, integration, and retention of members. Want to help out but don’t want to come to monthly meetings? We can accommodate that too! Please contact Rachel Katz at membership@bethel.net.
Ritual Committee
The Ritual Committee serves the Board of Trustees in dealing with religious services and religious policies of Beth El Synagogue. The committee meets on the first Wednesday of the month after the Wednesday evening Minyan. The committee, along with the advice and supervision of the Rabbi, our Halachic authority, and Cantor, oversees the operation of prayer services and Minyanim at the Synagogue, and Shiva Minyanim outside the Synagogue. We strive to keep services running smoothly and efficiently whether daily, on Shabbat, or on a holiday. We deal with issues relating to services which range from decorum to babysitting. We also oversee the distribution of Tzedakah from the Minyan Pushkas (collection boxes), care and repair of our Torahs by our “Holy Rollers,” the Summer Sermon Series and awarding of the Sobel Award for an outstanding B’nai Mitzvah Tzedakah Project. For any questions, or if you would like to join our committee or attend a meeting, please contact Murray Brenman at mbrenman2@verizon.net.
Fundraising Committee
The fundraising committee plans one major fundraising event each Spring, and several smaller events throughout the year. With the monies received from donations to the ad journal, the raffles, silent auction and ticket sales for our Gala event, Beth El is able to continue being the synagogue that you depend on throughout the year. The funds raised not only help offset the costs of programming, various events and education for both youth and the entire congregation and operating expenses not covered by dues, but also they are used to aid the many community outreach programs to which Beth El proudly contributes such as the Red Cross blood drives, Crop Walk, HomeFront, JFCS Kosher Food Pantry and Adopt-a-Spot. The fundraising committee holds meetings every other month and welcomes any member who would like to join. Anyone interested in participating can reach the Fundraising Vice President via fundraising@bethel.net
Catering Committee
The Beth El Catering Committee acts as liaison between our kosher caterers and congregants. We review and maintain our temple policies and contracts, and assist temple members who wish to host an event at Beth El Synagogue. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Rebecca in the Synagogue Office at admin@bethel.net.
Technology Committee
The Technology Committee is responsible for maintaining and updating the Website, Beth El’s e-mail accounts and various office technology issues that arise during the year. We can always use help, as activities are always changing. If you are interested in assisting, please e-mail us at technology@bethel.net.
